Photographing the wilds of America in the Rocky Mountains

Hiking in the Rockies brought me to this group of fearless marmots living on the far side of Agness lake.

Although I was already interested in nature photography, it was this hike in the summer of 2014 that created an obsessive passion with bringing seldom seen places and view to the eyes of many through my photos.

Agness lake can be a dangerous hike. Watch for falling rock and unstable rock underfoot. The level of the lake can determine if there is a safe trail along the water's edge. Bad weather can come quickly. Bring rain gear jackets gloves and hats and safety gear, food and drink.

Don't Harass the wildlife.  Give them their space. Let them remain wild. Get a good zoom and use a walking stick as a monopod for clearer photos.

I have since taken 1000s of Marmot photos. And have spent countless hours observing this family structured Animal groups. The love and care these animals show for each other is inspiring.
